Fun Kids Party Ideas

Having kids helps you become very creative, you want your kids to have a memorable birthday party or holiday party.  So you try your hardest to think of new and fun ways to make their parties a meomorable experience.

I have done many different kinds of parties and themes for my 3 boys and every year the kids who came to the birthday or holiday themed parties would start asking if we were having another party.

Here are just some of the themes and ideas I came up with.

Spongebob Theme Party

Purchase theme plates, cups and napkins from a local party store or see if you can find someone online who sells the items.

Make a cake use blue icing for the water color and add either decorations you find at the party store or go an purchase (or in my case look in the toy box) for the Spondgebob characters and place on the cake.  Add green frosting for the seaweed and if you can draw make the Pineapple house and the big rock for Patrick.

Get a clean goldfish bowl, you can sometimes find these at the local garage sales.  Fill it up with blue jello and let it sit till almost hardened then add gold fish and little plants that they sell at the local pet store for about 50 cents each or place more SpondgeBob characters in the Jello let it harden up.

Have Crabby Patties for the main course (regular hamburgers unless your kids are very adventerous and then there are recipes for real crabby patties)

Let the kids put together the "crabby patties" like spondgebob does.

For Games:

This game is better for the littler kids

Make a few fishes out of construction paper and add a paper clip to the top of the fish and make a fishing pole out of either sticks in the yard or purchase sticks from craft stores and add magnets and let them go fishing.

For the older kids:

Gather together items that have to do with creatures from under the sea.  Add them to a few  boxes with the lids closed a small opening with a flap so they can reach in the flap and have them guess what type of sea creature they are feeling.  Have them write it down and the one with the most correct answers wins a small prize.

Basic Party games

Doughnut Eating Contest:

Take small doughnuts from the local grocery store and run a ribbon through the hole, have a clothesline hanging from somewhere in your yard.   Space the doughnuts a few feet apart and have the kids hold their hands behind their backs and try to eat the doughnuts without them falling to the ground.  The first one to eat the whole doughnut with out it falling to the ground wins a small prize.

Scavengar hunt:

Based on the theme of the party and the age of the kids purchase items and hide them all over your yard make a small list of what is hidden out in the yard and set the kids free!  This is always a huge hit in our house.

As the kids got older we asked the nearby neighbors for help.  (of course be sure you know the people and that an adult is present with the kids as they are doing this) Make out a list of everyday items and hand them to the kids.  Bobby pins, pens, old rags, etc and see how many items the kids can bring back.  Split the kids into 2 groups an adult with each group and send them out into the neighborhood with the list and a sack.

Pumpkin toss:

This one is great for the Halloween time.  Find a bowling set (like Little Tykes or one from a dollar store) and set up the bowling pins BUT use a small guord or pumpkin in place of the ball.  Believe it or not the 10 yr olds love doing that too.

Apple dunking:

Get a small tub filled with water.  Place apples in the tub and have the kids go bobbing for apples.

As the Holiday change or I remember some more of the ideas we used with our kids for their birthdays I will update with more games, decorating ideas. So be sure to check back often.
